⚜Happy Mardi Gras, Mon Ami! I know we are smack dab in the middle of lent, but the deck was not finished in time to honor this ancient Catholic rite of abstaining from one's personal vices. So, we decided to host our Deck-stravaganza Mardi Gras this past weekend despite monsoon like weather. In order to encourage people to at least step onto the deck, we placed all of the drinks under a big tent. (Thanks Dominic and Oscar for the lending of the much needed tent - and for braving the rain to erect this veritable palace).
All enjoyed delicious Haute Cuisine from Rusty. He managed to cook two versions of Red Beans and Rice as well as two versions of Gumbo (boy is it difficult to accommodate everyone's different food needs - especially in California - I actually heard a waitress say she wasn't only gluten free, but grain free and she feels so much better since, more energy - I bet she's a fun date ). The food critiques have spoken and Che' Rusty's Cajun Cookin' was a huge hit. Who knew Rusty could cook so well?
We also had two different King cakes and delightful cupcakes with Disco Baby Jesus' atop!
I'm sure there is a special place in hell for this type of sacrilege! Je ne regrette rien!
With the moon close enough to touch, and the spirit of Madame Laveau in the air, a good time was had by most everyone.
